Boucheron Nuri parrot earrings
Sep 11, 2022
Boucheron unveiled the Nuri earrings in this year's new Animal Collection, showing the sweet gesture of two parrots nestling against each other, resting between teardrop-shaped loops.
The coloured gemstone setting is the work's biggest highlight – the parrot's feathers are represented by gradient-hued gemstones, and pink sapphires, orange sapphires, yellow sapphires and tsavorites are set from head to tail feathers, like the colors of the natural transition of parrot feathers.
The designer also specially designed the parrot's posture, expression and body details - one parrot looks into the distance, flashing bright "diamond" eyes, the other small parrot leans in his arms, quietly closing his eyes to take a nap, rose gold eyes are specially carved out of narrow slits, and the toes can also be seen on the paws.
Boucheron named the work "Nuri", derived from the Indonesian name for parrots. This bird with bright feathers is regarded in Indonesia as a messenger of beauty and life, and the different feather colors symbolize the most important elements of life – sunlight, running water and fire.
