David Webb will be in New York at A Walk in the Woods: David Webb's Artful Animals animal-themed jewelry show: Forest Walk

Aug 21, 2022

From September 19 to October 2, American jeweler David Webb will hold the "A Walk in the Woods: David Webb's Artful Animals" jewelry show at the Deison Avenue boutique in New York, with the theme of "Forest Walk", looking back at the brand's animal-themed jewelry created since the 1950s and the present Historical manuscripts that show David Webb's whimsical animal kingdom.

Born in North Carolina in 1925, David Webb founded the eponymous label at the age of 23, creating a bold blend of colourful enamelgold carving and gemstone settings in a vivid and playful style, especially in animal-themed jewelry.

The most special exhibit is a 1975 "Monkey" monkey brooch, the last piece of jewelry david Webb designed during his lifetime - the head and body of the monkey are made from carved red coralthe handmade gold carving is used to shape the monkey's paws, tail and other details, and the two eyes are inlaid with pear-shaped emeralds and sapphiresThe monkey's wrist also has a diamond-encrusted bracelet, and the whole piece is brightly colored and vivid.

Another important exhibit is a 1963 "Zebra" zebra bracelet, which once belonged to Diana Vreeland, editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine in the United States – the hinged structure bracelet wall is decorated with colored enamel, vividly creating black and white markings, the eyes are set with 2 curved rubies, and the zebra has a diamond ring clasp in its mouth. The visuals are one and the same.

David Webb presented a new "owl" themed jewelry for the exhibition, inspired by two unconventional jewelry design manuscripts – a gold brooch depicting an owl resting on a branch, a heart-cut amethyst center stone on the abdomen, and alternating white and green enamel.
