Louis Vuitton Le Tumbler aquamarine ring

Sep 23, 2022
The center stone is a 6.35ct emerald-cut aquamarine accented with 2 triangular diamonds, a long stepped cut diamond weighing 1.79 ct, and a round-cut diamond weighing 2.97 ct total, with a band made of white gold.

Louis Vuitton unveiled this Le Tumbler ring in the new fine jewellery collection 'Bravery' in 2021, inspired by the "Tumbler Lock" of the label's classic suitcase, using diamond settings to outline the geometry, a clear aquamarine It gives it a dreamy and ethereal atmosphere.

In order to improve the safety of the suitcase, Louis Vuitton and his son Georges invented a brake lock that could not be pried open in 1886, the "Tumbler Lock", and applied for a patent in 1890. The intricate double-spring clasp structure remained simple and elegant in shape and soon became an important identifier for the brand.

Francesca Amfitheatrof, the new Creative Director of Jewelry, boldly deconstructs this classic element – the "triangle lock plate" becomes a triangular diamond decoration at the upper and lower ends of the center stone; The "rounded silhouette" transforms into a cascading white gold ring wall with round and long stepped diamonds reminiscent of the rivet element of a locking button.

The visual focal point is undoubtedly the 6.35ct aquamarine in the center, cut in an emerald shape like a rounded rectangular piece of the latch. Aquamarine has a clear light blue hue that naturally matches the natural fire of the diamond, making the lock an element dreamy and natural. Flip to the back of the ring and you'll see a detailed cutout structure that maximizes the light through the gemstone.
