The Auction 11.15ct cushion colored pink diamond Williamson Pink Star sold for HK$453 million, setting a new single-carat auction record for natural gemstones

On October 7, a rare cushion pink diamond, "Williamson Pink Star", weighing 11.15 ct, was held in Sotheby's Hong Kong and finally fell for HK$453.2 million (US$57.7 million), significantly higher than the estimated value of US$21 million, becoming the history of jewelry auctions The second highest-priced item; The average price per carat reached $5.17 million, setting a new public auction record for a single carat price for natural gemstones.
The 32.32ct rough was mined at the Williamson mine in Tanzania, one of the world's oldest diamond mines still mined, known for producing pastel-coloured pink diamonds. U.S. diamond cutter Diacore bought the rough pink diamond for $13.8 million in 2021, which was eventually cut into an 11.15 ct long cushion pink diamond.
