Harry Winston originated in 1890 as a jewelry and watch workshop founded in New York, USA, by Jacob Winston, the grandfather of the current head Ronald Winston At first, it was founded as a small workshop in the Manhattan area. Jacob Winston immigrated to New York from Europe in 1890 and was known for his craftsmanship. The business he founded was later inherited by his son Harry Winston, who was Ronald Winston's father. Harry was born with excellent business qualifications, he successfully marketed jewelry to the wealthy upper class of New York, and founded his first company at the age of 24.
Brand history
In 1920, Harry Winston came to New York with $2,000 in savings and opened a company on Fifth Avenue: the Premier Diamond Company, which specialized in the sale of diamonds. In the beginning, Harry bought old jewelry at a low price, removed the gemstones, re-cut them, and then set them in the popular setting method of the time, and set them into brand new jewelry for sale.
In 1932, Harry Winston, already a successful jeweler, ended his small company and started a new one after himself. In November 1949, Harry Winston unveiled an exhibition called The Court of Jewels. Exhibits include the 46-carat Hope Diamond, the 95-carat Star of The East, the 126-carat diamond Jonker, the 337-carat sapphire Catherie The Creat Sapphire, and many others with historical value and emerald necklaces.
In 1978, Harry Winston died and his son, Ronald Winston, became his successor. 1990 Harry Winston Watch Division is founded.

1949 Harry Winston buys hope diamonds.
1958 Harry Winston presents the Star of Hope to the Smithsonian institution in Washington, D.C., as a gift to the American people.
1972 Harry Winston buys a 970-carat Sierra Leone diamond. Scenes of the year-long cutting process were televised worldwide.
1989 Harry Winston introduced the Ultimate Timepiece series.
In 1990 Harry Winston designed the Centennial Tiara. This piece of jewelry is made up of seven colorful diamonds.
In 2001 Harry Winston collaborated with renowned watchmaker Francois-Paul Journe to introduce the Opus1 watch.
2006 Canadian company Aber Diamond Corporation holds a 100% stake in Harry Winston.
