A new rough 160ct diamond has been discovered at the Lulo mine in Angola
Australian diamond miner Lucapa has announced the discovery of a new 160ct high-quality rough diamond at the Lulo mine in Angola, Africa, identified as Type IIa. This is the 6th largest rough diamond ever found in the Lulo mine and the 28th rough diamond to exceed 100ct.
Over the past two months, Lucapa's mining operations at the Lulo Mine have transitioned to the floodplains (Lezirias) and have cumulatively found more than 100 large-scale rough stones of 10.8 ct, including one gem-quality pollinated diamond weighing 170 ct and four large Type IIa diamond roughs, each weighing heavy 99ct, 88ct, 74ct and 66ct.
The Lulo mine, currently one of the world's most single-carat alluvial diamond mines, was developed by Lucapa in partnership with the Angolan government to produce Type IIa diamonds and has so far mined 28 rough diamonds over 100ct, the largest of which was the "4th" discovered in 2016 February Stone", weighing 404.2ct.

A lion's head gold ring that once belonged to Elvis Presley sold for $162,500
On August 27, GWS Los Angeles held a souvenir auction for American rock singer Elvis Presley and his agent Tom Parker, presenting nearly 200 items. The highest-priced jewelry piece was a lion's head gold ring, "Elvis: That's The Way it Is", which was hammered out for $162,500 (including commission).
Elvis Presley is particularly fond of jewelry and watches made of gold, and this ring uses gold to create an embossed image of the lion's head - the mirror-polished face is bright and shiny, and the lion's mane outlined in gold carving naturally extends to the ring wall; The eyes are studded with tsavorite, and a red garnet is attached to the mouth to become the finishing touch, like a precious treasure guarded by a lion.
Also notable for this auction is a custom note ring worn during Elvis Presley's performance, with a pear-shaped blue gemstone at the center stone; A "TCB" gold necklace set with a total weight of 1 ct diamonds, sold for $150,000; and a Corum yellow gold watch, the dial is made from a $20 gold coin from 1892 on the back of the watch and sold for nearly $270,000.
