Van Cleef & Arpels Hibiscus d'Opale necklace
Sep 12, 2022
This Hibiscus d'Opale necklace comes from Van Cleef & Arpels' 2014 "California Reverie" collection to celebrate Van Cleef & Arpels' 70th anniversary in the U.S. market Specially designed, inspired by the natural landscapes of the West Coast of the United States in the 1960s-1970s.
The word "Hibiscus" means "hibiscus" in English, and this flower consists of a total of 5 petals with a jagged outline on the outer edge of the petals, mainly distributed in tropical and subtropical regions, and there is a luxuriant hibiscus garden on the south coast of California.
Van Cleef & Arpels uses a hollow design to shape the petals of hibiscus, mimicking the petal color through the transition of pink sapphire to diamond – from light pink to white. Because hibiscus's flower buds are particularly slender, the designer has also carefully outlined the curled flower buds and embellished two diamond-encrusted leaves along the flower banks.
To match the pink hue of hibiscus, Van Cleef & Arpels selected plump pink opals as strings of jewelry to accentuate the hibiscus's bright hue with a warm luster. The bottom of the diamond tassel also pendants are two pear-shaped opals, echoing the color of the beads.
